What To Bring?
Greetings incoming residents!We are excited about your upcoming arrival to the residence halls, and we want to help make your transition to college as smooth and comfortable as possible. To help ensure that you have what you need in your residence hall, we have put together a short list of items that you may want to consider while packing for UCI. We hope that it is helpful. Items that we suggest you bring
- Sheets, pillows, pillowcases, blankets, bedspreads or comforters. Our beds are extra long twins (80" long and 38" wide). Standard twin sheets may fit if stretched but you may wish to buy extra long twin sheets available at most local department stores
- Towels, washcloths, and toiletries
- Alarm clock
- Study/desk Lamp (If you bring a halogen lamp, it must be UL approved and have a safety shield over the bulb.)
- Emergency supplies for disaster preparedness (e.g., flashlight)
- Wastebasket

Items to leave behind
- Heaters, sun lamps
- Pets
- Weapons of any type
- Drugs/drug paraphenalia
- Candles/incense
- Alcohol (for students under 21 years of age)
- Electrical cooking appliances (toasters, crock pots, rice cookers, etc)
- Microwaves - The only microwaves allowed in student rooms are those included in the "micro-fridge" compact combination (refrigerator/freezer/microwave) units. These units may be rented or purchased through a UCI endorsed company, Collegiate Concepts, Inc., or through other microfridge companies found on the web. Information packets will be sent to residents by College Concepts Inc. in late August. You may also visit www.collegefridge.com for more information and to order a micro-fridge. To ensure delivery prior to moving in we encourage you to sign up by September 7th. Orders may also be made up to and during move-in weekend. If both or all roommates order a micro-fridge, additional contracts will be canceled and the students will be notified.
- Excess belongings: there is no extra storage; bring only what you intend to keep in your room.
| Please note: Microwaves and refrigerators are available in the hall kitchens. Refrigerators in individual rooms are permitted if they are UL-approved and not larger than 4.3 cubic feet. Electrical cooking appliances are permitted only in kitchen areas. Information regarding renting a Collegiate Concepts Inc. "Micro-Fridge" (combination microwave, refrigerator and freezer) for your room can be found at www.collegefridge.com. |
