Meal Plan Options
Students living in the residence halls are required to select one of the following meal plans:
- 5 Weekday All-Access Meal Plan + 75 FlexDine Dollars per quarter
(This plan is ONLY valid MONDAY–FRIDAY)
- 7 Day All-Access Meal Plan + 50 FlexDine Dollars per quarter
- 100 Block Meals + 75 FlexDine Dollars per quarter
(Approx. 9 meals per week)
All other students may select from a variety of voluntary meal plan options. Go to food.uci.edu for menus and a list of meal plan options, or call (949) 824-4182 for more information.
Meal Plan Usage
Meal plans can be used at Lot 5 Dining Commons, in Mesa Court, or at Pippin or Brandywine Commons, both in Middle Earth. Be sure to bring your Student ID card with you, as your meal plan and FlexDine dollars are loaded onto it. "Block" meals (e.g., 100 block meal plan) do not carry over to the next quarter, so be sure to use them by the end of the quarter. FlexDine dollars, however, do carry over from one quarter to the next, but must be used by the end of the Spring Quarter. You may also use up to ten guest swipes per quarter to dine with your friends or family. If you need more meals, you can add additional ones to your card by purchasing FlexDine dollars or a Voluntary Meal Plan.
FlexDine Dollars can be used at the dining locations above as well as at cafés and eateries across campus: Phoenix Food Court, BCs Cavern Food Court, Cyber A Café, Starbucks, Med Ed Café, Café Med, C3 Convenience Stores and PODS, and the Student Center Food Courts).
FlexDine Dollars transfer from quarter to quarter, but must be used by the end of the spring quarter. They are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to the next academic year.

Meal Plan Changes
Want to change your mandatory meal plan? The meal plan change window is open now until Dec 12th. Go to my.housing.uci.edu for details.
Changes to the mandatory meal plan are allowed once during the academic year and must be submitted online during the meal plan change window (late November – early December). A link to the online meal plan change form will be posted on the Housing website during the meal plan change window. Changes take effect in January. Written meal plan change requests will NOT be accepted.
The dining facilities will not admit you without your meal card. If you have lost your meal card:
Contact the UCI Hospitality & Dining office. They're located on the third floor of the Student Center (G318 – (949) 824-4182). The card will be blocked from use until found or replaced.
You will be issued a temporary meal card with 3 days of meals. A $10.00 refundable deposit will be required.
Replace your card
Obtain a replacement ID card within 3 days at The Hill (formerly The UCI Bookstore). There is a $10.00 replacement fee.
Misuse of meal cards or attempted entry into the dining facilities without a valid meal card will be reported to Student Housing, and a record of the incident will be filed. Repeat offenders will be handled through the Housing conduct process or referred to the Office of Student Life and Leadership (Dean of Students).
UCI Dining Guidelines
While multiple visits to the serving lines are allowed, we encourage students to be conscious of food waste. Students may leave the dining facility with one drink and one of the listed food items below:
- Soda, water, or iced tea in your own cup, mug, or sports bottle (maximum 32 oz.)
- One of the following selections: 1 ice cream cone/novelty, 1 muffin, 2 cookies, 1 doughnut, 1 fruit smoothie, 1 bagel, 1 whole piece of fruit, 1 croissant, 1 dessert bar such as: a brownie, Rice Krispies bar, peanut butter bar, etc.

Retreat Meals (Minimum of 15 students)
A retreat meal is a packaged meal for a group of students intended to be used for meetings/events off campus. Retreat forms are available at the cashier stations at Lot 5 Dining Commons (Mesa Court) and Pippin (Middle Earth) and must be turned in to the dining manager 72 hours prior to your event. Participants' meal card numbers are then entered into the UCI Dining ID card system and one meal will be deducted their quarterly meal plan allowance. Up to three retreat meals allowed per group. Retreat meal menus are viewable online at ucidining.com. This option is not available during finals week.
Meals may be picked up for a sick student at Lot 5 Dining Commons (Mesa Court) or Pippin (Middle Earth). Roommates or Resident Advisors may request a meal for an ill person, provided they have a valid meal card and complete the sick meal form (available at the Middle Earth or Mesa Court Housing Office). Sick menu items are limited, and the student who is sick should complete the menu portion of the form. When picking up a sick tray, bring a completed sick tray form, the sick student’s ID/meal card, and your own valid ID/meal card. After the 3rd sick tray pass in 3 days, a doctor’s note will be required.
If you require a special diet for medical reasons, we are well prepared to assist you by customizing our menu to fit your needs. Please contact one of the dining managers for complete information and to assist you with developing your special diet. Students holding a meal plan may use up to 10 swipes per quarter for guests, and unused guest meals roll over to the next quarter, expiring at the end of the academic year. Alternatively, guests without meal plans must pay at the door for their meal. We accept cash, MasterCard, and Visa. Check the UCI Dining Web site for pricing.
