Winter Quarter, General Meeting #2
Wednesday, January 22, 2003

Called to Order: 7:35 p.m.
Adjourned: 8:40 p.m.

  1. Roll Call (Mila)

  2. Welcome (Esther): “Welcome to CC Rap Song”

  3. PAIR Announcement from Emmett Jones, POL Community Programmer
    • Pair is our annual Middle Earth talent show. This year’s theme is “Lord of the Blings.”
    • It will take place on March 5 in SSLH 100 from 9 to 11 p.m.
    • Auditions for the talent show are:
      • Sunday, 2/2 8-10p.m.
      • Monday, 2/3 5-6:30pm
      • Tuesday, 2/4 8-10 p.m.
      • Thursday, 2/6 3:30-5:30 p.m.
    • A signup sheet for auditions will be in the Housing Office. If you wish to perform, you must have at least one resident from Middle Earth included in the program.
    • We would appreciate it if CC delegates would help with the commercials during the talent show.


  4. T-Shirts (Nimish)
    • $5 deposit due at the end of the meeting
    • If you don’t have the money tonight, bring it to next meeting. Design will be Curious George.


  5. Twin Task: Two CC delegates interrupted business by hugging the executive board. Sneaky. Very sneaky.

  6. Parking Break: Next Wednesday, January 29th. (Mindy)
    • Meet at 7:15 in Gandalf’s
    • Will last two hours. Wear comfortable shoes, dress warm.


  7. Cluster Updates
    • Academic (Esther): “Pride Day,” Here tonight @ 9 p.m. Dress up as your favorite A-Team staff member.
    • Career (Nimish): Networking Event @ 8 pm in Gandalf’s Workshop geared to how to dress up for interviews, etc.
    • Health & Wellness (Mindy): Thinking about going camping. No set date yet.
    • Identity Development (Karen): Game Night from 8 to 9 p.m. in Crickhollow.
    • Interpersonal Relationships (Mila): Valentine’s Day dinner with guest professors talking about love, sex, and dating. It will be on Wednesday, February 12 @ 6:30.
    • Philosophy of Life (Martin): LGBT awareness program, Wednesday, January 29, @ 8 p.m. in Isengard.


  8. CC Evaluations passed around for delegates to fill out.

  9. Energizer: Middle Earth Trivia

  11. Proposed dance with Mesa Court; execs from MCC and MECC will meet tomorrow
    • Slated for Friday, February 21
    • Mesa has allotted $500, is asking for $200-$500 from Middle
    • Tentative theme: single to mingle
    • Delegate concerns/suggestions:
      • funding
      • lighting
      • theme
      • drinks
      • suggestion: split costs in half with Mesa


  12. Residential dining concerns/questions/suggestions?
    • Toothpick dispensers and straws should be placed in Pippin.


  13. How can we improve Community Council?
    • Harvin Sethi of Elrond: more skits
    • Ben Leong of Shadowfax: Open floor for delegates to come up and give announcements or address issues.
    • Lauren Woon of Whispering Wood: More time should be devoted to getting business done at the beginning of the meeting, and have the fun activities at the end so that delegates have the choice of leaving early if they have homework to finish.
    • Anita Vora of Snowbourn: Start meetings on time.
    • Mila: If any of you would like to address a personal issue and are not comfortable with saying it in front of the delegation, please feel free to come up to any of the execs after the meeting or email us.
