PUBLIC FACILITIES & Study Areas
Mesa Court Housing Office
The Mesa Court Housing Office is where you can find professional staff offices, in addition to a wealth of information on the Mesa Court community and UC Irvine campus resources. Should you ever find yourself locked out of your room, our front desk staff can assist you by issuing temporary keys.
The hours for the Housing Office are:
Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Recreation Center - The REC
The Rec Center includes the following amenities: *NEW* Nintendo Wii, PlayStation w/ RockBand, pool tables, ping pong tables, a foosball table, a variety of board games, a bigscreen TV room, & athletic equipment check outs. Wireless access is available throughout the facility. The Student Staff Lounge/Offices can also be found in the back of the REC.
The hours for The REC are:
Monday thru Sunday, 4 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Mesa Academic Center - The MAC
*NEW* The Mesa Academic Center (MAC) is now your one-stop shop for everything you'll need to acadmically succeed at UC Irvine!
The MAC is the new home of the Mesa Academic Resource Center (the MARC), where you can find group study booths, comfortable study chairs w/ laptop swivels, and flyers/brouchures about a variety of on-campus resources and departments that will assist you in your academic pursuits.
A Quiet Study Room, with tables, private cubicles and power sources for your laptop can also be found in the MAC.
FREE Learning Academic Resource Center (LARC) Workshops take place throughout the quarter... see the FYI page for the 2009-10 schedule.
FREE Peer Writing and Research Tutors are available weeks 2-10 each quarter in the REZ Lounge. Drop-in sessions are Mondays-Thursdays from 6-9 p.m.
Wireless access is available throughout the facility.
Mail and packages are delivered and distributed daily, except on holidays, through the MAC. You can leave out-going mail at the desk. When residents leave Mesa Court, they must complete a forwarding address card to get all first-class mail, except magazines, forwarded.

Community Center
The Community Center hosts many events open to Mesa Court residents throughout the year, including programs put on by community programmers, workshops hosted by campus departments, and academic classes such as Freshman Seminars and University Studies 2.
The Cyber Lounge (more info below) is located on the first floor of the Community Center. You must check in with the attendant before you use it.
The Community Center is open for all Mesa Court Residents to use as a study space. Additional services include discounted rates for printing, faxing, & copying.
Wireless access is available throughout the facility.

Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Sports areas
There currently is a sand volleyball court in Mesa Court available for student use until 10 p.m. nightly. There is also a basketball court located behind Selva Hall.
There are also an upper lawn and a lower lawn where residents play football, soccer, frisbee, or other outdoor activities. Sports equipment can be checked out of the REC with your student ID.

CYBER LOUNGE
Our cyber lounge is located in the Community Center and is equipped with comfortable chairs & sofas, all new computers, including PCs and Macs. Software packages are available on all computers including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Photoshop, and Illustrator. The cyber lounge also has a Multimedia Station that includes Adobe CS3 Design software package.
In addition to computer stations, there are laptop stations availble for you to use, with power sources for you to plug into.
We encourage residents to suggest new software and hardware recommendations to keep our lab responsive to students’ changing needs, and we do our best to upgrade equipment and software according to budget limitations.
The Center Attendants at the front desk are available to troubleshoot problems and assist residents as needed.
Security
Resident Advisors - Nightly Duty
There is a team of Resident Advisors assigned to nightly duty every night of the week. This Resident Advisor (RA) team can be reached by phone and is available to respond to any emergencies, noise complaints, etc. The duty phone number for Mesa Court is 824-6767 and available 24 hours a day.
Emergency Blue Light Phones
There are several blue light phones surrounding Mesa Court. When activated, these phones ring immediately to the UCI police, and alert the emergency dispatch operator that an emergency is occurring. They should be used only in an emergency.
Bicycles
Most halls have a bicycle rack in front for residents' use. Be sure to bring a sturdy lock to secure your bicycle. Mesa Court Housing is not responsible for stolen bicycles or bike equipment.
Parking
Residents with permits are allowed to park in designated resident parking areas.
Please do not park vehicles in the service areas or any other unauthorized parking space area. It is mandatory to keep these areas available for emergency personnel. Safety Workshops
Mesa Court staff conduct safety workshops and drills during the academic year. We do this to raise awareness of security issues in the complex and to make sure each resident knows what to do in an emergency.
Maintenance/Custodial Services
The maintenance staff is here to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment in Mesa Court. If you need to request help with a problem in your room, building, or surrounding area, visit the Mesa Court Housing Office to complete a work order or complete an online work order at http://workorder.housing.uci.edu/_mc_home.html. Our staff will help you as soon as possible. Though career staff is primarily here during business hours, professional staff are available after hours and on weekends for emergency situations.
The custodial staff work Monday-Friday; they vacuum, empty trash, and clean public areas and suite bathrooms daily. Residents are responsible for keeping personal rooms clean. If you need to borrow a vacuum, check with your Resident Advisor for assistance.
