
Found a "Bug"/Having Trouble?
There are two different forms available.
- System Trouble Ticket is for issues related to a web-system or application developed by Systems Development or security related issue and includes RMS and information requests.
- Help Desk Request is used to request assistance with your computer, hardware, software or other peripheral support, such as printers, scanners, etc.
What We Do
The Housing IT Systems Development team (SysDev) is responsible for the planning, development, management, security, and maintenance of Student Housing´s multiple server systems (excluding HARS and ResNet) and software applications.A small sample of our responsibilities include:
- Web programming and application development
- Database administration and SQL programming
- BusinessObjects server (data reporting)
- Information security
- Related server system management.
- Website management with decentralized content management tools
- Integration and collaboration with external units
- Serve as consultants to the department on technical and process related reviews.
- Our slogan... "If it's on the Web, we're maintaining it." (It is a broad statement, but applies specifically to any UCI Student Housing-related systems.)
What We're Doing
Systems Development is currently developing a new Residential Information System. The project initially named "GradSIS" was aimed to providing a single source solution for application, waitlist, and assignment processes for our Graduate and Family Housing unit. However, the project has a much wider scope and will also encompass our Undergraduate Housing unit in the coming years.
Because of the larger scope, the system has been renamed to simply Residential SIS (pronounced just as the first syllable of the word "sister") and will be implemented in phases that include, but are not limited to:

| After Phase V a new baseline will be established and enhancements will be processed by priority, business needs and overall alignment with the Housing Strategic Plan. | |
Request for Development
A formal process for new project requests is being developed. In the meantime, please submit initial requests for new development should be submitted to sysdev /at\ housing.hsg.uci.edu.The project request should detail a name for the project, purpose (how it meets Housing's business objectives/strategic goals), vision statement, list of project sponsors, and any timeline information. Projects submitted will be queued on the project request list (this is important.) Formal business and requirement analysis will not occur until a later time.
