Study Space - Open 24-hours for Middle Earth Residents Bucklebury This mulit-purpose space is used for studying, meetings, and programs. The space has couches, chairs, tables and reading lights. Additional study space can be found in the residence halls. *The *NEW* Academic Resource Center is NOW open! The center is across from Pippin, adjacent to Gandalf's Classroom. You don't need a key to enter; the front door will remain unlocked. There are plenty of comfy couches, seats, and white boards available, and wireless access will soon be available. too. We will also be adding information regarding academic resources available on campus. If you need a place to study, come check out the Academic Resource Center! |
Learning Skills Workshops Middle Earth hosts academic workshops conducted by the Learning and Academic Resource Center (LARC) staff. Turtorials are held Monday through Thursday 9:00am - 3:00pm in Whispering Wood and Woodhall MPRs. Workshop sessions are held throughout the quarter (day and times TBD) in Social Science Tower 484. Topics include Memory Techniques, Note Taking Skills, Time Management, and Exam Preparation. Students need to register and pay for tutorial sessions. Peer Academic Advising Peer Academic Advising is sponsored by Department of Undergraduate Education and is tentatively being offered in Middle Earth on Wednesday beginning Week 7 from 5:00pm and 7:00pm in the Academic Resource Center. Trained upper level students will be available to assist first year students as they plan their program of study to fit their college/career goals. Peer Academic Advisors can also provide information about various majors and minors and about the full range of academic resources available on campus. Check back to this website for dates and times of advising sessions. |
Middle Earth Peer Tutors! Middle Earth will host the Writing and Library Research Peer Tutors Monday through Thursday evenings from 6-9pm (beginning Week 2) in the Academic Resource Center. Classes Middle Earth offers unique opportunities to enroll in 'for credit' classes held in residential classrooms and hall living rooms. Humanities Core and University Studies discussion sections, human development classes taught in some of our theme communities, and Freshman Seminars taught by UCI Faculty are all offered in Middle Earth.
