Campus Village Involvement & Leadership
Philosophy of Apartment Life Program
The goal of the Campus Village community is to provide continuing UCI Housing residents and upper-division students accommodations which are comfortable, convenient, and affordable along with a living environment which supports opportunities for personal growth, development and most importantly, academic achievement. By choosing to live in Campus Village, you are choosing a community where each member has the responsibility to abide by the housing principles of community. These principles acknowledge that UCI is a diverse and multi-cultural community where each member must strive to accept each other and learn from one another in an atmosphere of positive engagement and mutual respect. Campus Village residents are encouraged to become involved in leadership programs and to participate in the community events planned for residents.
Involvement Opportunities for Residents
- Campus Village Events/Programs - There is something here for everyone. A variety of programs take place each week. Programs are coordinated by Resident Programmers, Resident Advisors, Community Center Staff, and CVSA. Programs are a great way to meet other residents in the community, discuss a variety of topics, learn something new, or just have fun. We look forward to seeing you at our events!
- Campus Village Student Association - The Campus Village Student Association (CVSA) is the student government for the Campus Village residents. The CVSA is the student voice which plans quarterly events and influences the quality of programs, services, and facilities provided for residents.
- Cluster Representatives: Each cluster has at least one (1) representative attend CVSA's bi-weekly General Meetings. Cluster Representatives have voting rights on all CVSA initiatives and motions. If you're interested, please contact your Resident Advisor (RA) or email Roger Becker, the CVSA Advisor.
- CVSA Executive Board: CVSA Holds elections for its Executive Board every Spring Quarter. The President position is a 12-month appointment and the other Executive Board positions (Vice President, Treasurer, Programmer, PR/Cluster Rep Coordinator) are 10-month (early September - June).
- Government of Undergraduate Student Housing (GUSH) - GUSH is made up members from the four undergraduate community councils. We provide a governmental structure as well as an informal forum for open communication between students and the university. GUSH provides student housing with the student’s viewpoint on important issues pertaining to life living on campus.
- Peer Conduct Board (PCB) - If you're interested seeing the student conduct process from another perspective, then consider being a Peer Conduct Board Officer. The Peer Conduct Board is responsible for listening to conduct cases where the larger community has been impacted by potential conduct violations. If you're interested please check out the Peer Conduct Board Flier (PDF) or contact Crystal-Rae Lugo Shearer, the Judicial Affiars Coordinator for Student Housing.
