2012-13 Non-Guaranteed
Continuing Student Housing Process
Frequently Asked Questions
The information provided on this page is for non-guaranteed students who are interested in living on campus in 2012-13. Students may apply to live in either Arroyo Vista or Campus Village. Off-campus housing information is available at ww.housing.uci.edu/och/. You can use the Anteater Housing Network to search for off-campus housing and roommates. |
The 2012-2013 Housing Application is now OPEN: |
- What are my housing options?
- Non-guaranteed students may apply to live in Arroyo Vista theme houses or Campus Village Apartments. Arroyo Vista offers academic year contracts (Sept-June), and Campus Village offers year round contracts (June-June).
Students interested in living in one of the American Campus Communities properties (Vista del Campo, VDC Norte, Camino del Sol or Puerta del Sol) should contact those leasing offices for information on their application process and time line. - What are my chances for getting on-campus housing, and when will I find out whether I will be offered a housing contract?
- Housing contract offers to non-guaranteed students will likely begin late in spring quarter, and will proceed according to application date/time order as long as spaces are available. When contract cancellations come in during summer months, additional offers will be made to the waitlist.
- Can I apply for housing with another person?
- Every student applies for housing as an individual. If you and a friend are both offered housing in the same community, you may also request to room with that person during the room/roommate assignment process. You will be more likely to be offered the same community as a friend if you both apply early and rank your community preferences in the same order.
- How are roommates assigned? When will I find out about my room/roommate assignment?
- Roommate assignments are made separately by each housing community. Campus Village provides prospective residents with information and dates for the roommate and apartment selection process. Arroyo Vista assignments are based on information provided on the Personal Information form that is submitted with the housing contract. Factors heavily weighed are specific roommate requests (among students assigned to a specific AV House), smoker/non-smoker preferences, and sleep habits. Students contracting to live in any of the ACC communities (Vista del Campo, VDC Norte, Camino del Sol) will work with those leasing offices to assign roommates. All roommate assignments are of the same gender.
- What kinds of housekeeping facilities are provided?
- In Arroyo Vista, housekeeping services for public areas (including bathrooms) are provided on a daily basis, Monday through Friday. Individual rooms are NOT cleaned by the housekeeping staff, although vacuums are available for resident use. Roommates are expected to work together to keep individual rooms clean.
Residents living in Campus Village and in ACC communities (VDC, VDC Norte, CDS, PDS) are responsible for cleaning their own apartments. - Dining Options
- Students living in AV and CV may purchase voluntary meal plans from UCI Dining at www.ucidining.com. Meals are served in three dining commons located in the residence hall communities, Middle Earth and Mesa Court. FlexDine dollars and Zot Bucks may also be used at several campus dining venues. Visit the UCI Dining Web site for sample menus and more information on meal plan options.
- How do I cancel my contract if I decide not to live on-campus?
- Your housing contract is a legally binding agreement, and a late cancellation charge will be assessed should you decide to cancel your housing contract. Prior to the start date of your housing contract, you may submit a contract cancellation form (PDF), which must include your signature, your UCI Student ID# and contract type. If you were under 18 years old at the time you signed your contract, the cancellation form must include the signatures of both the student and the guarantor (parent or legal guardian) named on your contract. Contract cancellation forms must be brought or mailed to Housing Administrative Services, G458 Student Center, Irvine, CA 92697-3250. They may also be faxed to (949) 824-4181. The amount of the late cancellation charge is assessed on a sliding scale (see Section VII.B of your housing contract). After the start date of your housing contract, you must contact the housing office of your assigned community directly as cancellation requests submitted will be subject to administrative review.
