GRADUATE AND FAMILY HOUSING CONFIRMATION
OF HOUSING STATUS AND MONTH-TO-MONTH
2009-10 OCCUPANCY ASSESSMENT
Residents of Palo Verde and Verano Place who hold month-to-month housing contracts should read the important information below regarding processes being conducted to help us plan for Fall 2009.*
*Residents who moved in prior to June 1, 2006 are “month-to-month contract holders.” Residents who moved in on or after June 1, 2006 are “annual lease holders.”
- All residents of Palo Verde and Verano Place will receive a Confirmation of Housing Status letter (February), noting housing records regarding their admissions date, academic program, and length of stay limit in housing. Any corrections to this information must be submitted to Housing by March 6, 2009.
- Current month-to-month contract holders will be sent a link via their UCI email to the 2009-10 Occupancy Assessment (March 16-April 17), which will ask about their intentions to remain in Graduate and Family Housing for the 2009-10 academic year.
- Residents who have reached their length of stay limit may submit a vacate notice by June 30, 2009 OR they may submit an Extension of Stay Request as part of the 2009-10 Occupancy Assessment process described below.
The 2009-10 Occupancy Assessment: (March 16-April 17, 2009)
- In order to facilitate placement of incoming guaranteed Ph.D. and M.F.A. students for Fall 2009, Housing must estimate the number and location of spaces that will open up by September 2009. To that end, all current residents are required to go online to indicate their interest in remaining in graduate housing for the 2009-10 academic year. A link to the online 2009-10 Occupancy Assessment form will be emailed to all Palo Verde and Verano Place residents by March 16, 2009.
- ALL residents must complete the Occupancy Assessment Form, including those who have not yet reached their length of stay limit and those who are not subject to such limits.
- Residents who are at or beyond their length of stay limit in June 2009 may submit an Extension of Stay Request as part of the 2009-10 Occupancy Assessment. If they intend to vacate by June 30th, they should indicate that on the form.
- Residents who do not submit a 2009-10 Occupancy Assessment form will be contacted to confirm their intention to vacate by August 31, 2009.
More Information on Extension of Stay Requests:
- Extension requests may be for summer only, or for one to three quarters of the 2009-10 academic year.
- Extensions of Stay Requests are not guaranteed, and will be based on the availability of housing spaces, after demand from guaranteed students is met. Approval of extensions will also require that students maintain their housing eligibility. Upon completion of your degree, you will be required to submit a 45-day intent to vacate notice.
- You will be notified no later than May 11th, 2009 as to whether your Extension Of Stay Request is granted or denied. If your request is denied, you will be required to submit a 45-day intent to vacate no later than June 30, 2009, and vacate prior to August 31, 2009.
