Arroyo Vista Community Programmers

The AV Community Programming Committee consists of eight individuals, which are supervised by the Programs Coordinator. The CPs work closely with the Programs Coordinator to provide quality programs for the community by fostering resident involvement in the planning, execution, and attendance of programs to create an environment within Arroyo Vista that allow the residents to build a strong community.
Programs in Arroyo Vista fall under two main categories:
- Community programs, meaning those open to the entire community of Arroyo Vista, and
- Individual house programs, which are geared toward specific Academic Theme houses (ATH) and/or Greek houses
The Community Programmers work as a team in planning, organizing, advertising, and executing a wide variety of social, educational, multicultural, and service-oriented complex wide programs for the residents of Arroyo Vista.
Community Programmers work in pairs with each programming pair assigned to a quarterly programming focus, with the intent of guiding community programs to meet the developmental needs of our residents and intentionally address the tenets of the Arroyo Vista and Student housing Mission Statements.
Programming focus groups for Winter Quarter are:
Academic Success and Faculty Involvement- Jan and Shane
This programming focus calls for the Community Programming team to provide community-wide Faculty programs and/or programs aimed at enriching the academic and career pursuits of Arroyo Vista Residents. Programs in this area may include: Faculty dinners and lectures, Graduate School workshops, resume and interview preparations, and study skills passives.
Personal Growth and Wellness- Saron and Adrian
The development of healthy, well-rounded individuals is of paramount importance to the mission of Arroyo Vista and UCI Student Housing. To this end, the second programming focus calls for programs that address issues of wellness and individual growth. Programs in this area may include: Diversity Awareness, Sexual Health Workshops, and Health and Nutrition passives.
Leadership and Civic Responsibility- Uriel and Jesse
The University offers students many opportunities to assume positions that will develop and hone their leadership skills with the goal of producing individuals with a heightened sense of civic responsibility. The third programming focus is aimed at furthering this goal both on a global and local level. Programs in this area may include: Service projects (Coin/Toy/Clothing Drives), Voter Registration, International Issues Panels/Lectures, and Community sponsored volunteer projects.
Community and Inter-Personal Relationship Development (aka CP Fun Time)- Julienne and Nini
The final programming focus encourages the building of community by providing opportunities for residents to interact with one another in an effort to develop a sense of belonging and make progress towards a successful transition to college life. Programs in this area may include: BBQs, Open Mic Nights, dances, and other resident mixers.
