UC Irvine Student Housing guarantees an offer of on-campus housing to eligible freshmen, transfers, some graduate students, and service members, reservists, and veterans. To be eligible for a housing guarantee, students must meet all application and contract return and fee payment deadlines. Applications received after stated deadlines are placed on a waitlist in the order received.
Guarantees by Class Level
Freshmen are guaranteed two (2) years of on-campus housing. The housing application deadline is May 1st, and housing contract offers are sent in late May/early June. Newly enrolled students must submit their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) before applying for housing.
Transfer students are guaranteed one (1) year of on-campus housing. The housing application deadline is June 1st, and contract offers are sent in July.
Continuing Undergraduate Students with a housing guarantee
Freshmen who live on campus for the entire first year, Campuswide Honors Program students, and students holding Regents or Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships are eligible to apply for guaranteed housing in 2014-15.
Ph.D., M.F.A., J.D., and Prime LC M.D.
Incoming students who accept their offer of guaranteed on-campus housing may remain in housing for their Normative Time to Degree. The housing application deadline is May 1st and housing offers are completed throughout the summer months. Find information on Graduate Guaranteed Housing offer Terms & Conditions here.
Eligible service members, reservists, and veterans
These students are guaranteed on-campus housing for four (4) years or Normative Time To Degree (whichever is greater). Register with UCI Veteran Services in order to learn more about available campus resources.
* Undergraduates who are married, with children, or 25 years of age or older are not eligible for the housing guarantee, but may apply to get on the Graduate and Family housing waitlist. This restriction does not apply to veterans and active service members.
Students who do not qualify for a housing guarantee or who miss application or contract return deadlines may apply to be on the housing waitlist. Housing offers are made to the waitlist as space allows once all guaranteed students have been served.
The Graduate and Family Housing waitlist is divided into two categories, and students in Category 1 are served before those in Category 2:
|Category 1||Ph.D., M.F.A., J.D., or Prime LC M.D. students who missed the application deadline; Medical students; Students with children living with them|
|Category 2||Masters students; Undergraduate students who are 25 years or older, married, or in a domestic partnership (no children)|
